Dorothy Law Nolte Biography
Dorothy was raised in the Los Angeles, CA area, She was a mother of

Ms Nolte was an accredited Counselor in Family,
Parenting.
She also was an educator and a Practitioner.
Dorothy also had developed and refined a body movement
method
Called Structural Awareness, which built the concepts of Structural
Integration.
In 1954 the original “Children Learn What They Live” poem was
written, the column at the Torrance Herald, a local newspaper, the column was
intended to help parents in their every day dealings with spouses and children,
and the lines of the poem came to her, and from that the poem originated. The
original poem, began circulating across the US and abroad.
In 1998 Dorothy wrote and published the book Children Learn What
They Live: Parenting to Inspire Values, with her co-author, Rachel Harris,
Ph.D. The book is based on the poem of the same name, written by Dorothy in
1954.
And in 2001 – followed-up the first book with Teenagers Learn What
They Live: Parenting to Inspire Integrity and Independence.
In the 2000’s Dorothy continued to teach Structural Awareness and
lectured on family dynamics and parenting. She toured the U.S. and Japan while
promoting the books. Her books and writings resonated with the Japanese people,
in particular with the Crown Prince Naruhito and Princess Michiko, who have a
small daughter. As a result there was resurgence of interest in her books and
poem. Most recently, Dorothy traveled to Japan to conduct seminars and
lecture on parenting. There are several of her works currently being developed
as books
Ms. Nolte achieved a great number of achievements in her life that
many of us would never imagine possible. In her creative being and expression
of thoughts, she was able to express to many a guide to healthy relationships,
parenting, and dealing with life. A very gifted individual she had a gift to
encourage each of us to reach for that inner strength to express values that can
be passed on to our children, grandchildren and generations to
come.
